Fit for Peace
Walk. In Silence. One Path.
Fit for Peace began with a simple discovery.
I walked Camino because I wanted to walk beside the ocean. I had never particularly liked walking, and I certainly hadn't imagined that I would want to walk hundreds of kilometres.
But somewhere along the way, something changed.
I discovered greater presence in walking. Especially in SILENCE. Not by trying to achieve anything, but simply by putting one foot in front of the other. Noticing the landscape. The weather. The people we meet. The silence between words. What is happening in our bodies. What is happening within us.
Back home, I wondered - what might happen if we walked together, in silence, with that same simplicity?
And Fit for Peace was born.
Why Peace

Peace is not only something that happens somewhere else.
It begins in the ways we inhabit our everyday lives — how we listen, how we meet one another, how we respond rather than react, how we make room for difference, uncertainty and silence.
Walking gives us a very simple place to practise this.
We walk alongside one another without needing to agree about anything. We share a wordless path. We are open to whatever the walk brings.
This is part of being Fit (or ready) for Peace.
Fitness is in the mind.
Fitness is in the body.
Walking together, we intentionally move our bodies, whilst becoming a little more able to be present, to listen, to notice, and to walk alongside others.
Walk. In Silence. One Path.
Walking together
These are not walking challenges, fitness walks or mindfulness exercises.
They are simply silent walks.
We walk together, at an unhurried pace, allowing silence to find its own rhythm.
There is no need to be fit. We walk with intention. Without talking.
You can come simply because you want to walk in silence, in company.
And perhaps, while walking, something else becomes possible: a little more space, a little more attention, a little more connection.
Peace within
Peace without
Nowhere to go. Nothing to attain.

The Walks
Fit for Peace walks take place on the second Wednesday of the month and the last Saturday.
We meet at the start of the Mûntsegroppe in Rottevalle and begin walking together at 09.00.
The walks are less than 90 minutes long. We always follow the same route.
They are open to anyone who would like to walk in silence.
At the end of the walk, gathering at the Threshold for a time of community is optional.
We finish around 11.30am (walk plus gathering).

Optional Meditation
It is possible to meditate together at the Threshold, in Rottevalle, before the walk starts.
Meditation starts at 08.15am and lasts until 08.45am.
At 08.45am we walk together, in silence to the Mûntsegroppe (around 5 minutes away).
Coming for the first time
If you'd like to join a Fit for Peace walk, please send me a message before your first walk.
I'll send you some information about how the walks work and what you can expect, plus a list of dates. In this way, you can arrive knowing a little about what you're joining.
After that, you're very welcome to simply turn up and walk.
You are Welcome.
