My story

Welcome. It's a joy to meet you here.
My name is Kim Enrica and I am the founder of The Threshold.
Born in Liverpool of mixed Chinese and English heritage, I am a mother of four sons and an artist devoted to icon writing.
I hold a doctorate in anthropology and have worked for many years with refugees and asylum seekers in social and community contexts.
Trained as an interfaith chaplain with Upaya in Santa Fe, USA, and as a spiritual accompanier with Sarum College in the UK, I work within the contemplative Christian tradition, offering spiritual accompaniment as a pathway of attention, depth, and transformation.
I work with people of all faiths and none, within this contemplative Christian frame.
Alongside this, I create icons as an artist, working in the tradition of icon writing as a contemplative art practice.
I am also attentive to dream life and imaginal practices as part of spiritual discernment and have a love of practices such as permaculture that cultivate harmony, balance, and care for the earth.
I am passionate about accompanying people through moments of change, supporting a slowing down into what is essential, and opening space for encounter with mystery and meaning.
Core Values of The Threshold
-
Welcome and Inclusion
Open to all, regardless of background or belief.
-
Integration
Holding creativity and spirituality together in a reflective and embodied way.
-
Reconnection
Encouraging deeper connection to self, others, and the divine.
-
Restoration
Supporting peace, renewal, and attentiveness to life within both inner and outer worlds.
The Threshold is a space for reflection, encounter, and the slow unfolding of what matters.
What is Spiritual Direction
Spiritual direction is a practice of deep listening and discernment, in which a trained guide accompanies a person in attentiveness to their inner life and relationship with the divine.
Rooted in ancient Christian traditions, it offers a quiet, reflective space to explore life’s questions, faith, and what truly matters.
Through conversation, silence, meditation, and attentive presence, it supports a deeper awareness of how meaning unfolds in everyday life.
It can help navigate times of change, deepen spiritual awareness, and nurture a more grounded and authentic way of living.
Spiritual direction is open to people of all faiths and none.
"Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes." —Carl Jung
